The Venetian

January 21, 2009

The Venetian Resort Hotel & Casino is situated on the east side of the Las Vegas Strip, between Harrah’s and the The Palazzo. It is relatively a new establishment, opening only in 1999 and replacing the old Sands hotel. When it was introduced, however, it automatically became one of the most expensive resort hotel and casino complexes in the whole world, and the largest AAA Five diamond hotel in North America. As its name implies, this luxury paradise is inspired by the art and architecture of Venice in Austria. It has more than 4,000 guest rooms, and is home to an 11,000 square meter casino.

As mentioned, The Venetian Resort Hotel & Casino is a fantasy land filled with everything that resurrects the architecture and the art of Venice. The Venetian is renowned for its replication of the gondolas in Austria. Unlike the conventional gondolas, however, the Venetian features motorized boats for the guests’ convenience and pleasure. A huge part of the construction cost of The Venetian is said to be allotted to these gondolas, the total construction cost of the hotel totaling to $1.5 billion. The gondolas tour the guests around the hotel’s complex, streaming them to different beautiful locations copying the sights and sounds of Venetian life. Gondola riders can stop in several stations in which they can shop, play games, or watch performances.

The Venetian is a favorite place of the richest gaming enthusiasts, foreign and local alike. Its gigantic casino complex offers the most exciting poker, slot machines and table games in Las Vegas. The hotel too has a spacious performance venue that holds fantastic Vegas shows, and a night club that quenches the thirst of party-maniacs for fun and drinks.

For guests who want solace and relaxation, The Venetian has the Canyon Ranch Spa that provides soothing massages, facial treatments, body scrubs, and mud wraps. Canyon Ranch Spa also has complete fitness equipment, pools, bath tubs, steam rooms, a barber shop, and beauty parlor.

The Venetian Resort Hotel & Casino has a number of fine dining and casual restaurants, some of the most notable of which are TAO, Grand Lux Cafe, Bouchon, Canaletto, and Delmonico. Lastly, it is home to two signature attractions in Las Vegas, the Guggenheim Hermitage Museum, which features exhibits on European visual and sculptural arts, and the Madame Tussauds Las Vegas, the renowned museum institution that features wax statues of different celebrities.

Guest rooms at the Venetian are lavishly furnished and decorated. All of them are categorized as suites, which mean that there is no such thing as a “regular room” here. Only chambers overflowing with sophistication, luxury, and style, with a huge separate living area and a spacious bathroom are available. Bedrooms are majestically set-up, the beds made only of designer materials. The rooms have a complete entertainment center, which includes an LCD cable television, CD and DVD players, speakers, and wireless Internet. Lighting, shade, and temperature can fully be adjusted, as even the curtains have their remote control. The bathrooms are inspired by modern European style, complete with glass-enclosed showers, and over-size bath tubs.
